Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Cancer Institute Opens
MammaCare Training Center

Training Dates

MammaCare® and The OHSU Cancer Institute in Portland, Oregon, launched a new program for breast cancer screening. The Oregon Health & Science University Cancer Institute now hosts a MammaCare Training Center to train and certify health professionals to conduct highly effective clinical breast examinations (CBE). The OHSU Institute also will work closely with Mammatech on advances in training technology.

Dr. Henry Pennypacker, President of The Mammatech Corporation, said “Partnership with the OHSU Cancer Institute will measurably increase the availability and quality of breast cancer screening for many thousands of women.” Dr. Mark Goldstein, Mammatech’s Chairman, reported that "fingers still discover the majority of breast cancers and skill-based training is an essential requirement for effective breast exams."

On October 9, 2003, The MammaCare Training Center at the OHSU Cancer Institute officially opened.  The proceedings included addresses by well-known researchers in the area of breast cancer detection as well as remarks by officials of both OHSU and Mammatech.  Following the formal session, visitors were treated to demonstrations of the MammaCare technique as well as given the opportunity to try the new MammaCare Palpation Assessment Device (PAD).

In the evening, a banquet was held along the banks of the Willamette River to commemorate the occasion.
